Myth     Interview   Journal

The myth is about a boy who lived with his grandmother. He was a hunter so everyday he would go out and get something for them to eat. The grandmother had a storehouse and it was filled with corn. Everyday she would make a soup out of what her grandson hunted and the soup. One day the boy saw that the storehouse had no corn, yet the next day they still had corn to eat. He grew suspicious and snuck up to watch how his grandmother did it. She went into the storehouse and set and empty basket on the ground. She would rub her body and dry corn would pour into the basket. Since the boy had found out her secret she would die the next day. She told him to carry her near the house and bury he where nothing else grew. The next morning she was dead and he buried her there. From that day on corn grew in that spot year after year so she could still feed the people as she had done when she was alive.
