Color guard and Orchestra are two random topics that one would not think would be able to compare and contrast. Unknown to most, they have a good number of comparisons.
Color guard involves flags, ribbons, scarves, rifles, hoops; pom-poms, dance, and anything that can be use to make an illusion to entertain the audience. Flags come in multi colors, shapes, and designs. The costumes are sometimes bright and elaborate. When performing it is a must to smile! If the performer does not smile, then they have to put petroleum jelly on their teeth. Another thing about color guard that one does not need to worry about in orchestra is color guard has to march.
Orchestra on the other hand is not about the flashy objects. All the instruments are the color brown, except for the special ordered items which come in a large range of colors. When one in the orchestra performs, they dress up in mainly black and a little white. They do not have to smile if they do not want to, so they do not need to worry about the nasty texture of petroleum jelly.
Color guard and Orchestra both involve music. To have music, you must have someone directing. In Orchestra the person doing the directing is called the director; and the music director for color guard is called the drum major. It is really important to know the counts for the song that one is playing or performing to; otherwise the members will not be together. It is also extremely important to come together as a group. If the group does not come together or pull together, the team will fall apart and sound or look terrible. Both the groups live to entertain the audiences, and both groups love the final reaction. They prefer the positive reactions over the negative, of course, but when we get the negative reactions, they understand what they need to change to make it better.
There are many comparisons and differences between color guard and orchestra. These are just a few of them.
