Enjoyed the development of the characters and being taken back in time during the depression era. DW
I enjoyed the characters and how they all came together at the end. great read. Vicki

Great read. Really enjoyed it. JK
The characters were interesting. I kept waiting for the characters to be thrown together. It seemed like a long wait for the climax to happen, and when it did occur, I was a little disappointed. I guess I expected more. Overall, I enjoy Shreve's style of writing. Parts of the novel reminded me of The Grapes of Wrath and Great Gatsby. Sandy
Thought Provoking. What is really of value? KW
I enjoyed the book...quick read.. it reminded me of Gatsby at times. I would recommend it for an ok read. KOE
I liked the symbolism of the sea glass. It almost became another character, and also seemed to be a metaphor for Honora's life with the red sea glass of hope and new life at the end. I didn't like the book as much as The Weight of Water, but I am not a big Shreve fan. Parts of it did remind me of Studs terkel's Working. PS
