How the Buffalo Hunt Began
Buffalo use to eat people. The people and the buffalo decided to have a race and whoever won could eat the other. The Buffalo entering the race was named Neika. She was really confident. Two birds were going to race for the humans. The birds ended up winning the race and the buffalo told their young to hide from humans. The buffalo also told their young to take some human flesh with them for the last time. The took the meat stuck it in front of their chests, beneath their throat. The people did not eat that part of the buffalo because they thought it was human flesh. After the day of the race, the Cheyenne's began to hunt buffalo. The people wore feathers of birds as ornaments because they won the race.
