What is CyberEnglish and how do you feel about being in this class?

CyberEnglish is a semester class where you do most of your work on the computer.  We use our technology skills and writing skills all at the same time.  It makes us think about English and what we should write and the correct form to write it in, while letting us build our technology education.  I really enjoy this class because you get to express your feelings through writing and you get to write what you want.  This class also gives you an opportunity to show the world your work of writing.  Anybody can read what you have to day but they can't judge you because they don't know who you are.  Having a website is something most kids have never done so it is fun and interesting to play around with.  I feel like this class helps kids be who they are and learn at the same time.

What's your favorite thing about your web page and why?

My favorite thing would probably be my "Where You Are From" poem because it describes my childhood in an unique way.  It is not straight forward but it still gets the point across.  It shows my personality from my past and starts to explain who I am now and who I was back then.  It brings back good memories from my past.  It reminds me of the music I listened to, the food I ate and still do eat, and the activities I participated in.  It reminds me of my love of gymnastics and why I loved the outdoors.  It reminds me of how happy I was and how life had no worries.  The best part of it is remembering how happy and strong my family was.  It reminds me of how much bonding and love we had for each other. It tells me that without my family, I wouldn't be who I am today.

If an outsider visited your site, what would you hope he or she would think about it?

If an outsider visited my site, I would hope that they enjoyed it.  I want people to look at my writing and get a strong meaning out of it.  I want them to think I am smart and understand where I come from.  I also want my website to make them think about things they might not think about.  I want all outsiders to read through it thoroughly and not judge what I have to say.  This is me and I want them to respect that.  I want them to think about where they come from and love and everything else I write about. I really want all to enter to appreciate my hard work that I have put into this.

Do you ever find yourself helping other students in CyberEnglish9 to learn something? How does that feel? Is this a normal role for you or new to you?

Yes, I find myself helping many people but they help me, too.  Our whole class helps whoever needs it.  It usually isn't something I think about but if I do think about it, I guess it makes me feel good.  I like helping others out and feel like its a good personality trait. I feel good about myself and feel like I accomplished something.  Of course it is a normal role in this class just because that is how our class is.  Outside of this class it is still a normal role for me because like I said before I enjoy helping others out.

Do you feel more confident now than you did at the beginning of the year about any of your skills: computer? writing? reading? Explain.

Yes, I do feel more confident about my work.  I have become faster at typing and I don't have to look at the keys and chicken peck anymore.  This allows me to get things done faster and not make so many mistakes.  I feel more confident about my work from the compliments I have received and the help I get everyday.  My writing has improved and I do not make as many mistakes as usual.  My writing has become neater and makes more sense to everyone.  I have become more creative and a faster thinker as well.  My reading skill has stayed the same because I have read since the beginning of time so I already am a pretty fast neat reader.

How has peer review helped you be a better writer?

Peer reviews have helped me because it has allowed me to connect with my classmates.  I have a better understanding of what teenagers like to read and I have a whole new set of opinions.  It lets you see things in a different light.  Not only did I get my assignments corrected by the teacher, my friends corrected them, too.  This eliminated many errors that I had.  I also now have a better understanding on how an essay should be and what errors I should not make.  I think peer checking helped many people in this class.  Now teenagers can connect to everybody's writing.  I feel like many teenagers will come to my web page and learn new things and appreciate all the writings it contains.
