Piggy is a relatively chubby person who  is a very whiny and intellectual person in the book. He hates physical work and he has asthma. Along with being whiny and intellectual, he is also a very intelligent person because he is the one that developed the sundial to tell when the sun was going to come up and go down every day they were on the island. Piggy is also Ralph's co-leader or his lieutenant to keep the peace on the island. Piggy is also about the most rational person in the group and believes that the beast does not exist on the island.
