Myth      Interview     Journal

Pegasus, in Greek mythology, was a flying horse who belonged to Bellerophon.  The winged steed was born from blood which had spilled from the severed head of the Gorgon Medusa, who was already pregnant by the sea god Poseidon.  Bellerophon was sent to tame Pegasus with a magic bridle from Athena.  When he tried to fly to Mount Olympus, Pegasus threw him from the instruction of Zeus.  Minerva caught him and tamed him and sent him off.  Pegasus became a strong and well tamed horse.
