Piggy is a fat twelve-year-old boy who has asthma represents smartness maturity and forwardness. Piggy is the only character in the novel to not have long hair by the end of the book. This shows he is mature and is good at keeping himself looking good. He is whiny, but the smartest of the boys. His best friends are Ralph and Simon but Simon dies early in the novel unfortunately. Piggy's glasses play an huge role in the novel they are used to create the fire so people in passing ships no they are there. when they get stolen from him he cannot see and therefore he can't survive without his glasses which show at the end of the novel. Piggy is the same age as Ralph and the are close in being smart but piggy is fat and he is not.. He is known for not helping, whining and generally being unhelpful but he is the intelligence in the group. his dying in the end shows that he was what kept the group together.
