Journal #1 In chapter 3, they all talk about how important dogs are. The dogs were always helping them out. The storyteller tells about how the dogs were there to tell the Kiowas that the enemies were coming. This was all in the period of time when dogs could talk. The historian tells about how dogs were the only thing the Kiowas has for transportation. Momaday talks about how his grandmother used to have a bunch of dogs at her house. They were nameless and just roamed around. When I was growing up my uncle Jeff had a dog named Kody. He had the dog since he was fifteen years old. My uncle lived with us so it was like my dog too. The dog was part of our family. My uncle Jeff moved out and had his own family with their dog still. Then Kody started to get old. He developed arthritis and was very touchy. He did not like the kids being around him and was in a lot of pain. We had to put Kody to sleep. It was very sad. My uncle was heart broken. |
