Turning Point Essay

I suppose the turning point in my life is when I was seven and I broke my leg, which was the first bone I ever broke. I lived in the apartments behind the Yankton Mall. It had a little playground, and I had two or three friends that lived in the apartments too. One thing that annoyed me was that there was no football field around that I could go to with my friends and play football. But the people that lived around us were very nice and had nice kids that I often played with.

My cousins and one of their friends were staying over. My cousin’s friend was chasing my younger cousin and me around the apartment when my cousin fell and I fell on top of him, then my cousin’s friend fell on top of my leg. He was about twice my size, and he bent my leg at about a forty-five degree angle. My bone snapped! I was lying on the ground and couldn’t feel my leg. I could not feel any pain at first, and then a couple minutes later my leg started to hurt tremendously. My mom was working late and was mad that she had to come home to rush me to the hospital because we were running inside when that was a rule. It didn’t take a long time to get me in, but when you’re sitting there with a broken leg trying not to cry, it seems like it takes forever. I went in and got a cast for my right leg. I believe that this injury affected my running after it healed because I started walking and running before I was supposed to. Now I know what the feeling of breaking a bone is like.
