My Little Sister

At about 6:00 p.m. my grandma called from a hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota. She was having a hard time trying to tell my mom what had happened. My grandma told my mom my sister Tatum was in the hospital because she had sharp pains at her waist, and it turned out her appendix was swollen and could burst at anytime. Grandma also said the doctors were going to operate on my sister that night. My mom told her that we were going to come and see my sister tonight. My mom, Ray, and I all got clothes together and threw them in the Jeep and started the long trip to Bismarck.

We arrived at the Bismarck Hospital at around 5:30 in the morning. My sister was already out of surgery and in recovery. When we entered her room in the hospital, I was the first one she saw and talked to.

"Drew," she said in a faint voice.

"Hi Tatum," I replied.

"I love you," she said.

"Love you too Tatum," I said.

My mom was right behind me, and she started to cry. My sister usually has a little grin on her face, but when I looked at her that grin was not there. Tatum also started crying: my mom gave her a big hug, and the loudest kiss I have ever heard. About two hours after we got to the hospital my aunts and cousins started to show up. About two and a half hours of gifts, cards, money, hugs, and many kisses happened when everyone was with my sister. What happened next might sound mean, but my family and I were hungry, so we went out to eat without my sister because she had to stay in the hospital and recover for one more day.

When my family and I were finished eating, we returned to my sister’s Hospital room. We decided who would stay the night at the hospital with my sister. We decided that my grandma would stay with my sister. The next day we came early in the morning to take my sister home.

On the way back to our house my sister got to sleep in the back of the Jeep with the seats folded down, so I had like no room to sit or even sleep because on the way up to North Dakota I didn’t sleep. My sister also had to go to the bathroom every half an hour, so it took twice as long to get home. When we did get home all, of the family that lives closer to our house was there waiting for my sister to come home, and once again she got more presents and money.
