1. How does this class seem different from other English classes you've had in the past?
In this English class we do everything on the computers. In other English classes everything is basically on paper. Also in other English classes we do a lot of homework, in this class we do mostly in class stuff.
2. Why is it important for you to have created and maintain a web page in school?
The webpage allows everyone else to view the work you have done. Since everyone can view it, they can comment or suggest things that would make your work better.
3. If you had more time to work on your webpage, what would you change or improve about it and why?
If I had more time to work on my webpage I would make many of my paragraphs longer. On many of the essays and short answers I didn't have much time to really think about what I wanted to write. Most of the short answers are only like a sentence long. There is actually more stuff that I do want to add I just haven't had the time to add to them or put it in there.
4. Write a five paragraph journal entry explaining who you would vote for for president if you were able to, and give three good reasons why.
The Presidential elections are always a big deal in our country. Everyone has a different opinion and many don't like the people who are running anyway. I think in our countries past we have made some mistakes on choosing our presidents, but with Barack Obama I think things would actually get turned around.
I can't really say that I'm a democrat or a republican because I don't really know much about either, but I really like the things that Barack Obama says. Basically from his speeches he is actually giving the younger people, who don't have the right to vote, a chance to speak out.
Barack Obama was already a senator for the state of Illinois, so he has experience. Being able to run a country doesn't just run in the family through genes, it takes hard work and some getting used to. If people in the state of Illinois think that Barack Obama was a good senator then who's to say he wouldn't make a great president.
My parents are also voting for Barack Obama, so that has a big effect on me picking them. My family and I always have long conversations about our presidents so I'm pretty sure that they know what they are looking for. I think anyone would be better then Hilary Clinton in my opinion. I do not like any of her ideas, except on lowering gas prices.
I'm not really all that into politics any everything, but like I said, out of all the candidates Barack Obama is the best. It seems like the election is only up against Hilary Clinton and Obama now anyways. I never hear anything about the other candidates.
5. What has been most challenging or frustrating for you in this class and how have you met the challenge or overcome the frustration?
I would have the say that the character sketch was the most frustrating. At first when I started I knew exactly who I wanted to do my character sketch on. After I thought about it I absolutely could not think of a good enough story that I could write 500 words on and would actually be interesting to other people to read. To overcome it I finally figured out that Alice and I had millions of hilarious stories that I thought the world needed to know.
6.Writing collaboratively can be challenging and rewarding. Write about your experience writing with another person.
There have been many writing experiences that I have done with groups of people. The most recent one was probably the one I remember most though. My group was very creative with the writing of the action stories. Everyone was participating with many interesting and hilarious ideas. When people get together in groups they can either be very serious about their stories and think deeply about what they want to write about, but it's way more fun to just throw out the first thing that comes to your mind. I think that the story ends up better when everyone is yelling ideas out.
END OF THE YEAR REFLECTION!
Since the beginning of the year we have done many poems, stories, and projects that I have enjoyed. A lot of them have taught me how to used the creativity that I didn't even know I had. So many of us have changed in this short amount of time and most of us don't even notice until we start looking back on things.
There are many things I've learned in this class, but one of the best qualities is with poems. There are so many things that I learned about poems in this class. One of the most bizarre things was that all poems don't have to rhyme. Also I learned that I can actually write poems.
