| Where I’m From
I am from the sugary taste of Lucky Charms,
The snap, crackle, pop of Rice Crispies,
The smell of Sunday breakfast after church,
The hotdogs and hamburgers on the grill on a hot
Summer day,
The taste of Tiger Meat on a Christmas morning,
The taste of chocolate pop tarts on a Friday before
school,
The sour taste of lemonade,
The foul taste of a hamster treat after a sisters
dare.
I am from a racing Hot-Wheels car as it speeds on the
cement,
A fuzzy stuffed animal that was near my bed,
A G. I. Joe as it jumps off the bedside,
A Toy Box that was a well maintained Fort,
A small Lego ship that you were captain of,
A small army tank as it drives on the carpet.
I am from a green house in the countryside,
The tiny dog that never bit or growled,
A small shed with lots of bent nails,
A broken bike and broken tire,
From Tag as we ran through our neighborhood,
From a huge pile of snow ready for adventures,
From a hug under a humongous tree,
And a goodbye as you move away.
I am from Spiderman, wishing I could climb tall
buildings,
From Superman, wishing I could fly,
From Santa because he always got there on time,
From my parents, who always tried to do the right
thing,
From my uncle, who was always nice and caring,
From a bunny that delivered amazing eggs while we were
sleeping.
From the "You are still to young to understand"
Or the "I love you with all my heart",
From "You can be anything if you try",
And the "It will only be a couple of weeks."
I am from a caring heart, that never tried to
disappoint..
