Where is Your Homework?

My homework flew out the window

on the way to school.

It is being carried away to a far away

land where some young child will pick it up

and look at

and wonder how much time someone wasted on it.

They will be glad that they aren’t in a school like mine

wasting their time on useless homework.

So if you ask me where my homework is

I will tell you

it is on its way to a far away land.

Fox

There once was a fox

He lived in a box

His name was Marvin

He was so skinny, you would think he was starving

He acts kind of snobby

He doesn’t even have a hobby

He doesn’t have many friends

‘cause he doesn’t know how to make amends

Poetry

Poetry is a beautiful sunset

Stretching across the horizon

Poetry is a beautiful language

Unknown too many people

Poetry is long bubble bath

After a hard day’s work

Poetry is a long drive

Through the roaming country side

Poetry is a warm hug

From a loving friend

I am Better Than You

I was born with the grace of a swan

I am a fish that can breathe out of water

I have more friends than the world can contain

I am built stronger than a Clydesdale

I an a better golfer than Tiger Woods

I have more talent than any actor

I am more brilliant than Albert Einstein

I have more money that Bill Gates

I have more love than God

Beautiful Storm

In the horizon you can see the storm coming

It thunders louder as it gets closer

You close your eyes to think

It would  be safer to get out of its way

When you open you eyes all you can see is the sunset

Slow People Crossing

Once the slow people have moved on

It is safe for you to proceed

They are not quite sure where they are headed

But be careful;

There are slow people crossing

The World is Not A Pleasant Place to Be
By poetry and Drama Students
Inspired by Nikki Giovanni

The world is not a pleasant place
To be without
Someone to hold and be held by

The sun wouldn’t smile
If there weren’t
A world
To smile back (MV)

You could never wish
Upon a star if
No one put them up there
And made them glow (JJ)

A flower would not grow
Without the laughter
Of the sun (JM)

A flower would die
If not watered by
Love. (SR)

A star would not shimmer
Without the moon
To make it glimmer. (ET)

A campfire would not be enjoyed
Without laughs
To accompany it. (AK)

Fields would not grow
Without rays
From the sun. (LJ)

Space is a lonely place
Without
The human race (JF)

The grass could not be green
Without the caring tears from the sky
A bird could not survive
Without the trust of a tree (AB)

The sky could not be so high
If no one held it upon their shoulders
To guard their people
And make it real. (MH)

You would never be warm or see light
If the sun was not there
To keep it all bright (AW)

A moose would not squeal
If there were no hunters
To harm it. (JA)

A tree wouldn’t grow
If the soil
Wouldn’t accept it (AC)

Music would not be pleasant
If our hearts weren’t there
To grasp it (AK)

The world would not shine
If the sun wasn’t to smile
If the grass wasn’t so green
And the sea wasn’t so blue. (NM)

The world is
Not a pleasant place to be without
Someone

The Shot

The game has been a fair one

Both teams came to play

A win means the last chance to state

All that matters is who wants it more

Fighting back and forth for the lead

It all comes down to the final seconds

Behind by a basket and one shot left

It’s in the air, hits the backboard

The backboard turns red when the time runs out

Just before the buzzer, the basket is good

4th of July

The barbeque is lit,

The burgers begin to sizzle

Kids running; lighting fireworks

Families together to have fun

Grandmas telling stories

Everyone listening intently,

Every kind of salad you could imagine

Lemonade and sodas

Everyone together again

It’s the fourth of July

Things to be taught in school,

How to love the rain, and

Get up early to see the sunrise

To play hopscotch with your little sister, and

Take long walks on the beach.

I want high school report cards

To look like this:

Respecting your Parents

Building Character

Creating a Good Work Ethic

Finding a true Friendship
