A very important turning point in my life occurred when I was in third grade. First off, I was born in Edison, New Jersey, and when I was two, we moved to Yankton. I don’t remember too much of Edison, and as a child, I felt pretty comfortable here in Yankton. When third grade rolled around, everything was about to change.
It all started the summer after I was in second grade. As far as I was concerned, my family was doing okay, living in a pretty nice house, and my dad had a good business going, but for some reason, they wanted to move back to New Jersey. I was hesitant to agree, but we did move. It started out pretty rough, living in a big city, not knowing anybody, but I met a lot of new friends whom I still keep in touch with until this day.
It was hard leaving all my friends I grew up with and going to a new city, but I dealt with it, and made a lot more new friends, as I said. When I started to make new friends, things went better. I did very good in school there, got along good with just about everybody, and I was starting to feel like everything was going to be okay, and kind of how it was when I lived in Yankton. A few years after living in New Jersey, my parents wanted to return to South Dakota. It was pretty crazy, and I had mixed feelings, but we did return to South Dakota, where I currently reside.
The whole moving experience was both bad and good, because I had to leave friends, make new friends, and then leave those new friends to move back. When I look back at it, I am glad that all of the moving happened, because I love New Jersey, and I met some good friends there. South Dakota is not my favorite place in the world, because it is too boring here, but I do have a lot of good friends and family here. This moving occurrence introduced me to some good people, and left me with some good memories. This was a huge turning point for me, because if I wouldn’t have moved, I may have never had any memories of where I’m from. Also, moving back to South Dakota was a huge turning point because I got to see my friends and family I never planned on seeing again. All in all, I had mixed feelings about moving, but it all turned out for the best.
