Character Sketch
My grandpa Joe is a very kind man, and has had a very large influence in my life. A time he demonstrated how kind he was, was when he co-signed for me to get a car.
It was a little over a year ago, and I was driving my 1986 Le Baron home from school. Right as I was pulling up to my house, my car died. That was the third time that month, and I just got it out of the shop a few days before. The whole car situation was not going too well, and I didn’t know what to do.
After going inside and explaining to my parents that my car had died again, we decided it was time to look into getting a new car. I called my grandpa Joe, and he stopped by as soon as he could. "Grandpa, I have been havin’ some car problems, and I was thinkin’ since I have been working quite a bit, could you co-sign for me to get a new car?" I asked my grandpa, hoping he would want to help me out.
"Sure Jordan, but you do understand you would have to make monthly payments?"
I explained to him I knew, and we headed out the door, my grandpa, my dad, and me, on a mission to find a new car.
Within the hour we left my house, we had saw many different cars. A few of them seemed like they weren’t too reliable, and a few were too expensive, but we eventually found the right car. "How much is 2001 Ford Taurus SES?" asked my Grandpa.
"It’s $6500, and we’ll take off $900 for the Le Baron," answered the car salesman.
My Grandpa and I then discussed if I liked the car and figured my monthly payment. It would be $155 a month. I could actually afford that. I was so excited I was going to be getting a new car, and getting rid of my Le Baron. My Grandpa Joe co-signed for me, and I am still making payments on my car.
Thanks to my grandpa, I have a pretty decent, reliable car. If he wouldn’t have co-signed for me, I would have never gotten a new car and would still be having the problems with my Le Baron. My grandpa has had a positive influence on my life, and this story demonstrates how kind of a man he is.
