UFO
The term “UFO” refers to an unidentified flying object. UFO sightings date back as far as the beginning of recorded history. Thousands of people from all cultures and civilizations claim to have seen these mysterious flying objects. The term “flying saucer” came into popular use when American Kenneth Arnold claimed to see a UFO on June 24th, 1947 near Mount Rainier, Washington. He saw about nine brightly lit objects flying across the sky at speeds up to 1200 miles per hour. He thought that these objects were in the shape of a “disc” or “saucer.”

There have been several UFO sightings over the years. A lot of these sightings have been over places like Area 51, where they are testing new aircrafts or new ways of air travel. One of the most famous UFO sightings in history occurred in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. Unidentified debris was found at a Roswell ranch. The Roswell Army Airfield announced that a “flying disk” was discovered. Then a couple of hours later they had found out that it was just a weather balloon. There are still a lot of people that believe it was more than just a weather balloon; most of them think that the government is just using that as an excuse to cover it up. So the truth about the Roswell incident may never be known if the government is covering it up. (UFO Mysteries) There have also been several other reports of UFO’s. One occurred in California when a man was outside watching the stars when he saw 2 to 3 red blinking lights. When he looked a little closer he saw that there were really 8 to 10 of these red blinking lights and that they were shaped in a triangular formation. They had continued to stay in a triangular formation for a long period of time before he lost where they went. That was one of the most recent UFO sightings, happening on March 28, 2008. the most recent UFO sighting that has been reported was in South Wales on April 2, 2008. A boy and his mother were walking their dogs out on the countryside near their home in Penperlleni. It was just starting to get dark outside when they had noticed what the thought was a really bright star at first. They stopped to look at it for a while and that is when they had realized that it wasn’t a star because it was moving. The star was a lot bigger and brighter than all of the other stars around it also. It was moving fast in a steady pace and at a high altitude. It did not have a tail like a shooting star or a comet would. An aircraft was not far away from the UFO and they were both at about the same altitude but the UFO was a lot bigger and it was moving a lot faster. After a few minutes of watching the UFO it went into the clouds and they could not see it again. They had figured that it was just a satellite or something like that so they didn’t think anything of it and went home. (Billy’s UFO/aliens blog)
