When I was a little one I used to love to run out in the fields. My mother would always scold me because she never knew where I was. Then one very humid day in the summer I was out quite far from my house when the wind really started to pick up. I had been out there in that kind of weather before so I wasn't too worried. But when the wind got really strong I decided I should probably get home, for my mother's sake. On the way home the sky was getting real dark, then the out of the blue a big crack of lightning flashed through the sky. Now this startled me a bit so I started to jog home. Then the rain came, and it came hard. By now I was at a full out sprint. When I reached my house my mother was out side calling at the top of her lungs. When I showed up at the door she in braised me then we ran to the storm shelter. I didn't really know what the big deal was, there were storms like this around here all the time, but then my mother told me it was a tornado. Now I was scared, I held her close, along with my father and my three other siblings. After about ten minutes we decided to emerge from the shelter. When we came out we were astonished, two of the big trees in our front yard were gone and our barn was demolished. My father was a little upset about that but we were all glad to be safe. I never ran that far from home ever again.
