Lucky Number Eleven
Way back when I was in fourth grade, Mrs. Stoebner would always draw names for random prizes she has lying around. It was an efficient way to get rid of the old junk she had. The prizes would be anywhere from posters to little novelty erasers. In the front of the room she kept poker chips with numbers on them. She had one for all twenty-four kids. My number was eleven, and it just so happened that my number was NEVER drawn. At least until one random day…
We just happened to be doing some kind of project, and Mrs. Stoebner was drawing names to give away these animal posters she had. She began the drawing; it was so intense. She finally drew my name that day. Not only once, nor twice, but THREE TIMES! I didn’t even cheat! Between every drawing she would shake up the bag so it was impossible to.
Out of good sportsmanship I did give one of the prizes back to give away. Unfortunately, Mrs. Stoebner never drew my number again.
