Take The Ride
Danny crawls in to the van only to find a man about his dad’s age who introduces himself as Melvin. He and Melvin begin to talk about various topics, first about the rain and then different sports. Melvin asks Danny if he’d like to get some ice-cream before he took him home. Danny answered yes, and they were on their way to Dairy Queen. Once they got there, they laughed and talked and laughed and talked some more. Soon their sundaes were gone and it was time to go. The rain was starting to clear up, and Danny knew his parents would be home soon. On their way to the car, Melvin asks Danny if he’d like to come back to his house to see some of his baseball cards.
