A friend is defined as a person whom one knows, likes, and trusts. I met this kind of person in the first grade. As young six-year olds, we had the same teacher. Miranda was the type of girl that was shy, the type of girl that would wait for someone to talk to her first. I was the type of girl that would talk to anyone and everyone that was around. Somehow, we just got to chatting about our first grade topics. For example, we both had the same crush, Erik. Through the next couple years, Miranda and I had countless sleepovers and were basically inseparable.
Tragically, Miranda and I grew apart after we found other
elementary friends. Years passed and all we shared was a smile while we passed
across the halls of Lincoln Elementary School. We moved on to middle school and
the eighth grade came along. I have always been a big fan of student council,
and I would do countless amounts of things for the popularity contest in middle
school. In the seventh grade, I made the council, and my goal for the present
year was to be on it again. While campaigning for student council, I was famous
for the very colorful stickers that I made. For some reason, it was destiny for
Miranda to help, so she came over and did just that. From this point on Miranda
and I were basically rejoined at the hip, as my mom would say, once again.
After Miranda and I became best friends again, my best memory
of her and me took place in my neighborhood. It did not exactly take place all
at my house because my neighborhood is an eventful place. Anyway, the day began
when Miranda and I woke up at my house from the usual popcorn-movies-junk food
sleep over the night before. With the two of us, it was tradition to have potato
bread toast and a glass of milk for breakfast. For some reason, while eating our
breakfast, Miranda and I could not stop laughing at the television show that we
were watching. When we would finally regain our composure, we would make each
other laugh again by just a glance. By this time, our day was flowing along very
nicely, and we had to find another activity to keep us busy.
During this period of time, I had a fairly new digital camera that I was infatuated with. Miranda and I decided to play "dress-up", as some may call it, and then take countless random pictures. Miranda and I did just this and took pictures in any way imaginable. Miranda and I usually are pretty silly people together, so you can just imagine the pictures!
By the time that Miranda and I got done taking pictures, it was lunch time. As some of my friends may say, our food resources are not very plentiful in the house of Alice. Miranda and I were scavenging through the cupboards when we found a can of yams. For some reason, Miranda and I found this hysterical. I opened the can, grabbed a fork, and we both ventured outside. I would say Miranda and I, but this was sort of a solo deal where Miranda stands to the side and laughs for awhile as she can barely walk. Any who, we began to walk as I flung yams and sang a number from The Wizard of Oz called "The Yellow Brick Road". We soon began to skip and laugh and altogether had a wonderful time which in turn became my favorite and most memorable time that I shared with my friend Miranda.
This one example is one of the many great times that I’ve shared with my friend Miranda. To many, this may sound like a pointless time, but it will always be a laughing topic between us friends.
