I am a C. I am a C-H. I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N. And I have C-H-R-I-S-T in my H-E-A-R-T and I will L-I-V-E E-T-E-R-N-A-L-L-Y. As you may be able to tell, I am a very strong believer in Jesus Christ. I started going to church when I was just a little tike born in Yankton, South Dakota. When I was born on July 11th, 1992, I was dedicated to Calvary Baptist Church just days after my birth. I attended church with my parents for countless years. Even as a little kid, one of my favorite activities was wearing my spiffy new dress and shoes to church. At church, I loved to attempt mimicking my parents as they sang hymns and prayed. After no particular event, my family and I strayed away from the church for quite some time.
I had always said I was a Christian and acted as one, but I didn’t really continue going to church. At a certain age as well, I didn’t really feel the need for church. In my middle school years, friends had always invited me to Wednesday night church, and I went every so often. The times that I didn’t always attend church, I had excuses such as, "I don’t need to go to church to worship God." During my last year of middle school, I had convinced myself that I wanted to start attending church on a regular basis. My older sister had a steady boyfriend, and their relationship was based on God. They invited me to church, but since they were in high school and I was still going to the middle school, I put it off once again. Although I had declined their offer, I made a promise that I would go as soon as I reached the high school, for then I would be in their group and wouldn’t feel so out of place.
Days, weeks, and months passed and eventually I was a freshman in high school. I had mostly forgotten about my long-term promise about church, and I thought that they my sister and their boyfriend had as well. How wrong was I? My first week at church went very well. Most of the people there welcomed me, and I knew most of them in the first place. I began attending church regularly on Wednesdays and Sundays. Every year, Emmanuel Evangelical Church goes on a ski trip to Colorado. I attended the trip, and it was a life-changing experience altogether. Living this life style makes a person’s attitude better and they see people in a different light. My lifestyle changed after I became a Christian. I view myself as a better person altogether.
