New Business:

The scholarship committee reported a change that will take place in the way the funds will be distributed. Ellen Bollig will meet with Jim Means to discuss the changes and report back to the board.

The Grievance Committee received training December 12. The committee members include Nancy Klimisch, Jane Bobzin, Faydra Christensen, Kim Eide, Angie Hejl, and Jacki Hovden. Thank you for volunteering.

The Membership committee will continue working on the membership grant. Those involved are Holly Gordon, Jennifer Johnke, Lori Leader, Laura Nedved, Amy Neu, Sue Ray, Stacy Ryken, Kelli Simonsen & Jackie Hovden. There is a meeting this Thursday.

Jamie VanWinkle, Laura Nedved, Michele Luken, Jackie Searl and Angie Hejl attended the Legislative Dessert discussion.

There was a YEA bargaining conference in Huron in January and Angie Hejl, Jamie VanWinkle and Michele Luken represented Yankton.

There is another bargaining conference at Chamberlain in January. If you are interested in attending please contact Lynn Moser or a board member by December 22nd.

The School Board meetings are not being very well attended by us as members of YEA, Yankton district staff and community members – with this being a negotiations year it would behoove us to attend and show solidarity and support of our negotiations team as they have already been meeting often and attending state level conferences on negotiations. Strong attendance from each building at the upcoming school board meetings has considerable potential for strengthening our bargaining position when we do go to the bargaining table in the spring.  It will send the school board a strong message that we do care what they do!

We also discussed the need for an Insurance Committee to look into issues that are arising – we would like to have a member from each building on this committee by the middle of January/2007 – if interested please contact your building rep --

The meeting was adjourned at 4:45.

Respectfully submitted,

Michele Luken
