I would like to recognize Janine Broscha as the YEA Teacher of the Year because:
Janine is a very professional educator. She has dedicated all of her teaching career to the children in the Yankton School District. Her untiring love of learning is obvious when you talk to her about her goals and expectations. Reading is not just a subject for her to teach – it is her passion. She shares her love of reading with the students and enhances their skills so they, too, can become life long readers. She was instrumental in helping to design and implement a reading program at YMS for students who needed a little more help to ensure their success. This program has truly changed the self esteem and reading ability of many students.
Computer knowledge and leadership qualities shine throughout the year as she helps her colleagues with problems and takes the lead on many sixth grade activities because she is a whiz at scheduling. We never get lost or go astray with Janine who is very perceptive of the needs and demands of middle school curriculum and activities. Her years of experience as a teacher and as a parent enhance her ability to understand and communicate successfully with the students and the YMS staff. She is a great listener and friend.
Janine has always been one of the first teachers to arrive in the morning and one of the last to leave. She is dedicated to her profession and most importantly the students she works with every day. Janine has been a great asset to our school, the students and the colleagues she works with each and every day.
Janine epitomizes the qualities of a great educator and advocate. Thank you, Janine, for sharing your talents and advice with all of us throughout the years. Your unconditional support, understanding, and compassion are appreciated – even though we don’t always communicate that to you as often as we should.
