YEA Board Meeting

Reminder: YEA Meeting 4:30 Waterfront Restaurant Wednesday August30
President Jackie Hovden called the meeting to order at 11:40.
Roll Call: Melanie Vlasman, Michele Luken, Sue Ray, Stacy Ryken, Angie Hejl and Jackie Hovden
Stacy approved the minutes of the May board meeting and Angie seconded the motion.
Treasurer Stacy reported a balance of $1,815.22 with one outstanding bill of $500 that is to go to the YEA scholarship recipient Sara Otteman.
Old Business:
Communications were read from Sara Otteman thanking YEA for the scholarship.
New Business:
Board members were nominated as such:
Deanna Garvey - President Elect
Stacy – treasurer
Kay Koliner – secretary
Jackie reported on the summer school board meetings. YEA members from all buildings are urged to attend the monthly meetings.
A membership training meeting will be held in Yankton on Wednesday, August 2nd. Stacy Ryken, Angie Hejl, Linda Messler, Sue Ray, Melanie Vlasman, Michele Luken, and Vicky Barron will be attending.
A school district goal setting meeting has been set for Tuesday, August 15th at 7:30 in the High School. Dr. Gertsema asked for representatives from YEA to attend.
YEA will host some social gatherings through out the year to promote YEA and inform members of issues. The first gathering will be Wednesday, August 30th at 4:30 at the Waterfront with a short meeting at 5:30. YEA will provide munchies.
YEA Teacher of the Year, Arlene Stoebner, will ride in the Riverboat Days parade this year. Jackie will provide the car, Michele will provide the magnet for advertisement and Stacy will check into handing out school related items.
The board will look into developing a YEA T-shirt that YEA members may order.
Stacy made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Melanie seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 1:40.
